General and Addiction Psychiatry

Dr. Alison Jones has been practicing psychiatry since 1998 and relocated to Austin in 2007.  Her specialties include General and Addiction Psychiatry for adults, and she is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both General and Addiction Psychiatry.

Dr. Jones offers a distinctive practice approach that is centered on individual psychotherapy combined with the use of medications when needed.  She specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, relationship issues and selected substance use disorders.

Dr. Jones received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin.  She earned her Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) where she also completed her residency program in General Psychiatry and a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry.  As a faculty member at UTHSCSA, she supervised residents in training and conducted clinical research.

Dr. Jones is committed to improving patient care and currently serves on many medical/psychiatric associations.  She is a member of Austin Psychiatric Society, Travis County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Texas Medical Foundation, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, and the American Psychiatric Association.
